I have been brimming with excitement over this latest development with Cowbelly:
I am donating my services to photographing 13 lucky auction winners for the 12 pages and cover of the 2014 PAWS (Progressive Animal Welfare Society) annual fundraising calendar!
The calendar pages and cover will be auctioned off during their Wild Night Gala on Saturday April 6th, 2013 at Fremont Studios, and I’ve been told, the calendar raises over $30,000 each year on the auctioned pages and cover alone (not including calendar sales), so it’s a very big deal and I feel so honored they chose me!
It’s pretty amazing for me to think I might play a role in helping them raise desperately-needed funds for their many operations, including but not limited to: a companion animal shelter for a variety of different pets, wildlife center, satellite cat adoption center, and animal welfare education programs. How many of you adopted your pets from PAWS?
PAWS is an organization that is close to my heart, because that is where I adopted my own sweet girl Fergie. I will be forever indebted to them for bringing me the love of my life. For years I have wanted to partner with them but never had time because of the time I was investing into teaching other photographers. Now that I am not teaching anymore I am able to move forward with giving back to groups like this full steam ahead. Being able to support so many animals in need, while doing what I love most, just fills me with joy.
It will be a very intense April and May (when I’ll be doing the sessions for the calendar winners), with an early June final deadline, but it will be so worth it, and I already have a photographer friend lined up who has offered to assist on shoots gratis, because she herself has a dog she adopted from PAWS (thanks Katie!). Yay for PAWS pets!
Ok, so if you are in the Seattle area, you will want to attend the Wild Night dinner next month. Right? Right!
You will want to bid on the fantastic items they have in their auction, right? Yes!
And, if you really want to support this incredible organization, you will bid on a photo shoot with me, and your pet will be commemorated forevermore in the calendar, right? YES! AND, if you want to go hog wild, and really want to make a difference, you’ll bid on, and win, the cover shoot! Yippee!
You can purchase tickets to the April 6th event here:
….. and if, for whatever crazy reason you can’t attend, you can still support this great non-profit that brought me MissMonkeyPants, by making a donation here.
Hope to see some of you there at the event! Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you plan to go!
If you are a Seattle-area non-profit rescue group or shelter in need of my services, please send me an email to email@example.com and I’ll be happy to provide my availability.
I promise to keep my blog updated with more on this project, and will certainly let everyone know when the calendar is in publication and ready for purchase! 🙂
